Director, Prelude Chorus
Renee Vande Wege has been a music educator since 2000. She has served as the Freshman Choir Director for Rockford Public Schools since the fall of 2013. Her choirs perform regularly at state festivals and were honored to perform at the Michigan Music Conference in 2018. In July 2020, Ms. Vande Wege will join Rockford Choirs for a third European tour, culminating at the World Choir Games in Flanders, Belgium. Ms. Vande Wege also teaches elementary music classes and middle school choir.
Ms. Vande Wege holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Hope College and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Michigan State University. She is certified in Music Learning Theory. In 2011, she founded Vande Wege Vocals, a music business offering classes and music opportunities for all ages.
Since 2004, Ms. Vande Wege has served as vocal director and soloist for the Grand Rapids Children’s Opera Workshop. For many years, she was a member of the Grand Rapids Opera Chorus, singing in La Boheme, The Magic Flute, Tosca, La Traviata, Turandot, and Die Fledermaus, among others. Ms. Vande Wege maintains a regional voice studio and solo performance schedule, and thoroughly enjoys being mom to Emily and Levi.
